The past few weeks have been very busy, with a change of weight program, a photo shoot for Adidas and travelling through snow to train in Horsham and Crystal Palace.
December is the month I started with the new weights program, moving on from the intense GVT weight training, I thought or hoped the next lot of weights would prove to be easier. How wrong I was! Cleans and snatch heading straight up to 95%. This is proving to be very demanding on the body, but nothing I can’t handle!
On the first Thursday in December, I was asked to go to Shoreditch, London, for an Adidas casting photo shoot. Due to the snowy conditions, it was touch and go if I could make it especially as all the trains were cancelled! But I managed to drive there but I didn’t know what to expect. All my efforts were worth while as I was chosen as one of three male models (faces) for the Adidas Original Summer range. The following Thursday and Friday, I was back in London in Wandsworth for the Adidas Originals photo shoot. This was my first experience of modelling and although it was fantastic experience and great fun, it was also surprisingly tiring especially as I went training in Horsham after a long day of shooting (which had started at 8.00 am!).
This last weekend, Steve (my coach) and I went to Lee Valley (in Edmonton) for the National Combined Events Coaching Course. I was there as a demonstrator. Although I had the same problems with snow and slippery conditions driving the to Indoor stadium, it was great working with some of the best coaches and athletes in the country!
Felt so good picking up a javelin and being able to throw indoors into a ceiling high net. The javs had rubber rings on either end so they couldn’t damage the javs and put holes in the track!
Finished the weekend with hurdles and long jump sessions. They went well and am feeling confident going into the 2011 indoor season, starting with the Lee Valley meeting on the 2nd January and Sheffield the following weekend for the England Indoor Heptathlon Championship, weather permitting of course!!?
